Richard B. (Dick) Roberts, Vice President, Banking and Finance
Dick Roberts retired from Wachovia Corporation as the Executive Vice President / Treasury in 1998.
He joined Wachovia Services in 1967 as manager for commercial services and then transferred to bank operations for NC correspondent bank data processing.
Roberts joined Wachovia Bank in 1972 in the bond and money market group with responsibility for correspondent portfolio management. In 1982, he took on duties of funds management including: asset and liability management for the corporation with a focus on interest rate risk management. Basically, his charge was to direct the strategy for all discretionary accounts for the investment portfolio (domestic and off shore) ($14 B) and all wholesale funding for the company ($8 B). All capital issues were also his responsibility.
Mr. Roberts testified numerous times in front of US Senate and US House of Representatives Banking Committees on the subject of the Glass – Steagall Act and other banking matters. In 1986 he was elected to the US Treasury Debt Management Advisory Committee and served for 12 years. He was an invited lecturer for the Athens Stock Exchange Symposium on the topic of market risk management.
Roberts currently serves as chairman, NC State Education Assistance Authority; is a board member of NC Nurse Scholars Commission, Principal Fellows Commission, and ACM Financial, the Piedmont Angel Network, and manages his angel and venture capital investments.
He received his BS from Newberry College in Chemistry and Mathematics in 1964 and completed The Executive Program at Colgate Darden in 1988.
Randal P. (Randy) Schumacher, Vice President, Government Relations
Randy Schumacher is the Chairman and a founding partner of Schumacher Partners International, LLC, (www.SchumacherPartners.com) which offers government and business relationship management services to corporate clients, trade groups and foreign countries. The company’s registry of blue chip strategic partners provides a dynamic capability meeting specific needs of clients with specialty services.
During his business career Mr. Schumacher has forged lasting relationships throughout the federal Executive Branch and Congress to manage both domestic and international issues. His well-established global relationships enable clients to reach high-level government officials, business leaders and non-governmental organizations throughout the world on a variety of economic, political and commercial matters.
Schumacher Partners represents a roster of clients that includes Fortune 500 corporations, industry trade associations, universities, US subsidiaries of international companies, and early stage technology firms. The issues and opportunities he manages often bring into focus other countries’ trade policies, regulatory systems, legislative processes, politics and commercial considerations. Clients include a cross section of service and manufacturing industries – finance, insurance, healthcare, university, telecommunications, telematics, transportation, pharmaceutical, plastics, composites, toy, defense systems, chemical, cement, steel, mining and energy – among others.
Mr. Schumacher has organized several joint ventures targeting opportunities in the security and intelligence management, wireless communications, international environmental remediation, energy development, aviation, and precious metals industries.
He holds graduate degrees in law and toxicology and an undergraduate degree in biology.
Robert E Francis, Vice President, Business Development
Mr.Francis is a Partner in Milford Communications Partners and a highly experienced executive in the the field of business development for telecommunications technologies. During his business career he has introduced a wide range of new technologies to the US and international markets for companies such as GTE, Syniverse, Synchronoss Technologies, Inteledigm and Bulletin.net.
He received his BBA in International Business from Wagner College, Staten Island, New York in 1991.
